Junction Division
A yard open at both ends
A running track loops to a far lead and far ladder, so open tracks can be worked from either end. One move takes the engine and its cut round the loop.
3 hand-made yards, pars from 5 to 7 moves. Every yard has two challenge variants that open once it is finished at par.
The yards
| # | Yard | Par | The job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Both Ends | 5 | Albany on Track 1, Boston on Track 2. The running track loops round to a far lead: run around, and the deepest car in a track becomes the nearest. |
| 2 | Turnover | 7 | Rebuild the outbound on Track 1 as Albany, Boston, Concord, Dover from the ladder end. It stands in exactly the wrong order, and the running track takes two cars behind the engine. |
| 3 | Junction Shift | 6 | Build the outbound Albany, Concord, Albany on Track 1, block the Dover hoppers on Track 2, and the Boston cars on Track 3. Track 3 hangs off Track 2, so only the near end reaches it, and only while Track 2 holds two cars or fewer. The engine is rated for 220 tons and the running track takes one car behind it. |
