Terminal Division
A wye to turn cars
A wye turns the whole cut in one move, reversing its order and the facing of every car. Some cars must stand facing the bumper at their destination.
4 hand-made yards, pars from 6 to 8 moves. Every yard has two challenge variants that open once it is finished at par.
The yards
| # | Yard | Par | The job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Turned Around | 8 | The marked cars are facing the wrong way: their door ends must point at the bumper. T takes the cut around the wye and brings it back turned, every car facing the other way and the order reversed. Albany on 1, Boston on 2. |
| 2 | Doors to the Bumper | 8 | The outbound on Track 1 already stands Albany, Boston, Concord, but the Albany car faces the wrong way. Turning fixes a facing and reverses the order, so pick what goes round with it. Dover on 2. |
| 3 | Turn and Roll | 6 | A hump yard with a wye off the lead. Rolling never turns a car, so turn the cut first and hump it facing the right way. Albany on 1, Boston on 2, Concord on 3. |
| 4 | The Long Way Round | 8 | No wye here, but the running track is a U: a run around turns every car behind the engine. Albany on 1, Boston on 2, Concord on 3. |
